Eternal Perspective on Singleness & Marriage

Dear Mosaic Family,

The weekly newsletter comes a few hours earlier than usual, because I'm headed to a funeral this morning. Though I'm grieving with the family, I'm also rejoicing for the incredible impact this godly woman had on thousands of eternal souls. Though most of you have never heard of Evgenia Krupko Harlov, apart from her faithful life and witness, Mosaic Boston would not be what it is today.

Evgenia was born in a tiny village in Belarus in 1928. Her father moved to Canada to make money for the family, but ended up abandoning them. Evgenia was raised by her mom and brothers. She would often talk about having to tend to her cows and sheep as a 10 year old.

Leonid Harlov served in the Soviet Army in WWII. He was sent to Belarus to help push back the Nazis. This is where Evgenia and Leonid met. They both loved the Lord and were married in a small Baptist church. They also loved serving the Lord together in the local church and beyond. Leonid was a talented musician, wrote music, and often traveled to Moscow to teach at world-renown music schools. Evgenia had a fiery zeal for the Lord, and encouraged thousands in their faith.

In 1993, they decided to immigrate to the United States. They both went to Moscow to the immigration interview with their family in 1993. Unfortunately, Leonid died right after that trip from a heart attack. He was 85 when he died. Every time Evgenia talked about Leonid, she had tears in her eyes. They deeply loved each other.

Not only did they raise their physical children in the Lord, but they devoted their life to helping people meet Jesus, and growing in the Lord. They have 4 kids, 16 grandkids, 29 great-grand-kids. They also have tens of thousands of spiritual children.

Dennis Molla is one of her grandkids. So is Walter Harlov. The Molla family, and Walter Harlov, have been, and continue to be, instrumental to building Mosaic Boston. Praise God for Evgenia Harlov!

Join us tomorrow as we study 1 Corinthians 7, and look at singleness and marriage from an eternal perspective.

With Love,
Pastor Jan
