New Sermon Series

Dear Mosaic Family,

Google the term "humble confidence" and you'll get article upon article, blog upon blog, book upon book, about how developing the paradoxical blend of "humble confidence" is one of the greatest secrets to success in life. Though many can tell you that "humble confidence" is important, many are inept at telling you how to develop it. Life-coaches first start with tips on growing in humility, then give you tips on growing in confidence, and by the end, the lists seem to cancel each other out, and you're back to square one of prideful insecurity. Is it even possible to simultaneously grow in both humility and confidence?

In Matthew 16:10, Jesus said, "Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as servants and innocent as doves." Jesus often mixed metaphors to describe the nuanced profundity of the Truth. Jesus calls Christians to live like sheep who follow the Good Shepherd, which in turn, makes us a special sort of sheep. Sheep are proverbially stupid, yet Jesus calls us to be wise as serpents. Christians are to develop a dove-like innocence, and snake-like intelligence. What kind of sheep is this? We are to be sheep like Jesus, the Lamb of God, who is also the Lion of Judah.

Jesus is a Lion-like Lamb, and by worshipping Him, we begin to resemble Him, because as G.K. Beale writes, "What people revere, they resemble, either for ruin or restoration."

Worshipping Jesus is the key to becoming like Jesus, the Lion-like Lamb.

Jesus embodies the perfect balance of:
Glory & Humility
Majesty & Meekness
Toughness & Tenderness

Jesus is the perfect fusion of humility and confidence.
As we worship Him, we develop humble confidence.

Humility that's balanced with confidence, doesn't turn into self-deprecation.
Confidence that's balanced with humility, doesn't turn into arrogance.

The Gospel has the power to transform our prideful insecurity into humble confidence.

Join us tomorrow as start our new Sermon Series called "Tough & Tender: Developing Resilience for Life" by studying the majestic text of Revelation 5.

With love,
Pastor Jan
